ABOUT THE PROJECT

It is obvious that adaptation to climate change requires comprehensive programs.

The use of Precision Viticulture is the tool for transitioning to a new, more efficient era for winegrowers, with the aim of economic sustainability and reducing the environmental footprint of the wine farms.

The basic principle of Precision Viticulture is the management of the field in management zones, i.e. parts of the field characterized by common soil or agronomic characteristics. The goal of Precision Viticulture is to help winegrowers make decisions about:

  • limiting inputs, consumption of energy and natural resources,
  • the recognition of the ripening and harvesting season,
  • increasing the crop yield.

The NITREOS platform aims to bring the benefits of Digital Agriculture and Precision Viticulture to producers. The application is based on the processing of very high spatial resolution images, water balance calculation models and numerical weather forecasting, in order to manage the vineyard at all levels of the production process.
